Welcome to the new website!

Letter from Matt’s Desk

Hello, and welcome to the Town of Fayetteville’s new and improved website! Thank you for taking the time to visit. I am Matt Diederich, the Superintendent of Fayetteville. I know this must be a difficult time for everyone. Long before this, we realized the need to provide our residents, businesses and visitors a better online experience through a redesigned, more functional site. Now, even more so than ever, we know how crucial it is to have information available to everyone. We hope that this new site will provide some of that and also provide more and more resources for everyone’s benefit as it evolves.

I want to take the time to thank each and every one of our staff members, street workers, police officers, firefighters and elected officials for all their hard work during this time of the COVID-19 virus. I ask myself daily, “Have we done enough to protect our citizens, community, coworkers, first responders, businesses, as well as my own family?” At the time of this writing, I can honestly say “Yes.” My biggest fear now is that we will try to rush back to normal too fast and cause additional harm to those people. Only the future will determine the outcome of our actions.

Fayetteville, in large part, is built up of small businesses. I understand the crunch that you are feeling and hope that we have an outstanding 2020 tourist season to offset some of these hard times. We are here to help. Please let me know what I can do to help ease the financial strain that you are most certainly dealing with. I will do everything in my power to assist you in this time of need. I’ve heard this said countless times, but “we are all in this together.”

We will be conducting our monthly council meetings, on the 1st Thursday of each month, through Zoom for the foreseeable future. I encourage each and every one of you to join us and stay informed of what’s going on in your town. This is something we are considering extending to those who cannot appear in person once things return to normal.

There are so many new and exciting things that we have planned in the upcoming future. I look forward to sharing these with you in my regular “Letter from Matt’s Desk.” I hope that this becomes a place of interest for all our residents and visitors.

Please do not hesitate to let me know how our site can be more helpful to you.
