What does it mean to be one of the “Coolest Small Towns in America”?
With a population of approximately 2,800, Fayetteville is a small town made up of people from all walks of life.
We have several churches, parks, health trails and playgrounds conveniently located in the area. Our Fayetteville PreK-8 school is within the town limits, and our high school is located six miles south in the city of Oak Hill.
We have some of the nation’s best hiking trails and climbing routes. And, of course, we are the home of America’s best whitewater on the New and Gauley Rivers. We also have Bridge Day, a national BASE-jumping event that takes place every third Saturday in October and features vendors, artisans, music, food/special taste event and a chili cookoff.
While Fayetteville is known for its proximity to the New River Gorge and outdoor recreation, we also have a reputation for unique restaurants and specialty shopping experiences. Our businesses are the connection to outdoor enthusiasts, a place where they are welcome to come as they are and enjoy our small corner of Almost Heaven.
